A new massacre flows with blood in the Department of Cordoba. This time it was in the village of Saiza, on June 15, where heavily armed men assassinated eight people and wounded two people of indigenous origin and ransacked local commercial establishments. The initial versiones of the story which passed through the urban zone of Tierra Alta held that the bloody act was committed by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), but when the injured arrived, this information was "defalsified" and it was confirmed that the authors of the acts were members of United Self Defense of Colombia (AUC). Leaders of the Presbytery of Uraba of the Presbyterian Church of Colombia who have churches in this area had informed us that possibly a Pastor of the Presbyterian Church had been among those killed along with two church members and a Pentecostal pastor. In confirming the actual story, it was established that the Presbyterian Pastor along with numerous others managed to hide in the mountains for two nights in order to avoid being killed by the paramilitary. The facts of the massacre are that the paramilitary killed 8 persons, among who were two members of the Presbyterian Church, and that many homes and businesses in the village of Saiza were burned. The inhabitants of the town were given four days to leave. At this time we have nearly 100 families from the church and others from the town arriving in Apartado and Carepa seeking housing and food. We had to take the Presbyterian pastor out of Uraba entirely because his life is in danger should he stay on in the region.
In facing this situation, the Presbytery of Uraba is seeking emergency assistance to attend to the needs of those arriving in Carepa and Apartado, until they can be resettled permanently. At this time there are people lodged in the Presbyterian Church's Hogar de Paso in Apartado and the churches are helping with food and with essential emergency items. We appreciate any help and solidarity you may be able to offer.

Comunicado de la Iglesia Presbiteriana en Colombia
Una nueva masacre tiñe con sangre al Departamento de Córdoba. Esta vez fue en el corregimiento de Saiza, el 15 de Julio, en donde hombres fuertemente armados asesinaron a ocho (8) personas, hirieron a dos (2) indígenas y saquearon el comercio. Las versiones iniciales que circularon en la zona urbana de Tierra Alta indicaban que el sangriento hecho fue cometido por hombres de las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC), pero al llegar los heridos ellos desmintieron esa información confirmando que los autores del crimen fueron miembros de las Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia (AUC). Líderes del Presbiterio de Urabá de la Iglesia Presbiteriana de Colombia que tiene iglesias en esta zona informaron que posiblemente habían asesinado al Pastor de la Iglesia Presbiteriana, dos miembros de la Iglesia y un pastor Pentecostal. Al confirmar esta información se pudo establecer que el Pastor Presbiteriano junto con un gran número de personas del pueblo se habían escondido en el monte durante dos noches para evitar ser asesinados por los grupos paramilitares. La realidad de los hechos es que el grupo armados mato a ocho (8) personas, entre los cuales había dos miembros de la Iglesia, quemó gran parte del comercio y viviendas del corregimiento del Saiza y dio un plazo de cuatro (4) días para que sus habitantes abandonaran el pueblo. En estos momentos hay cerca de 100 familias de la Iglesia y otros tantos del pueblo que están llegando a Apartadó y Carepa buscando vivienda y alimentos. Al Pastor de la Iglesia presbiteriana de Saiza que se encuentra en Apartado nos toca sacarlo de Urabá, ya que su vida esta en peligro si continua en la región.
Ante esta situación el Presbiterio de Urabá de la Iglesia Presbiteriana esta solicitando una ayuda de emergencia para atender a la gente que esta llegando a Carepa y Apartado, en tanto la gente se reubica de manera permanente.
