From Andrew Miller, Amnesty International, Washington, DC

Dear Colombia Activists:

We want to alert any and all activists about a book tour that is taking place right now which will have an impact on our Colombia work.

Author Mark Bowden is promoting his book, Killing Pablo, about the hunt for Pablo Escobar. While we may not agree with some of the spin and some of the characterizations, it is an important work highlighting a very dark corner of US involvement in Colombia.

In fact, Amnesty International USA has filed suit against the CIA, and will file suit against other agencies, due to our investigation about the PEPES death squad, precursor to the ACCU paramilitary organization and thus the AUC, currently responsible for most of the political killings and atrocities in Colombia.

We encourage everyone to attend his book signings, obtain a copy of the book, and learn about what has been going on -- and tune in to our website

(www.amnestyusa.org/countries/colombia) as we post news about our lawsuit.

But do treat some of the analysis with a grain of salt.
