Amazon Watch is seeking a dynamic, capable person to serve as the Web
Coordinator for the organizations web site www.amazonwatch.org.
POSITION DECRIPTION
The Web Coordinator for Amazon Watch is the facilitator for our number
one outreach tool and will oversee the web site and information requests
from the public. With direction from the Executive Director and the
organizations Campaigners, this Web Coordinator will post campaign
updates, news releases, and images to the site as well as suggest design
and elemental changes in an on going effort to get information out in a
user friendly way. In addition, the Web Coordinator will work closely
with the Executive Director and the Operations Manager on the overall
Web Strategy and Web Marketing of the Amazon Watch site. The Web
Coordinator will be required to work 20 to 25 hours per week from Los
Angeles or the San Francisco Bay Area. The position could become
full-time in the future.
SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
The Web Coordinator will primarily focus on information dissemination
through the Web Site.
Depending on skills and experience, specific areas of responsibility
will include:
·Posting of News Releases, updates, photos, reports, and other
information to the Site.
·Participating in training / skill sharing workshops held by the Amazon
Communications Team.
·Replying to and managing information and image requests from the public
and the media.
·Management of Links to various partner groups and allies as well as
internal navigational links.
·Management of Image Bank.
·Dissemination of Action Alerts and Bulletins to email list serve.
·Tracking and promote traffic to the Site
·Managing email list serves.
·Working with other staff members and consultants to upload audio and
video content to the Site.
·Coordinating web marketing including regular listing of site on top
search engines.
·Coordinating the production of a website in Spanish.
QUALIFICATIONS
·Proficiency in HTML and / or Web Publishing Software (Dreamweaver or
Go Live)
·Proficiency in basic graphic design and related programs (Adobe
Acrobat, Photoshop, Flash)
·At least 1 year of working experience as a web master
·Work well with others as well as independently
·Spanish or Portuguese language skills are a Plus
·Strong time-management skills, ability to manage multiple priorities
and meet deadlines
·Personal commitment to environmental and social justice
ABOUT AMAZON WATCH
Amazon Watch is a registered non-profit organization working to defend
the Amazon rainforest and its peoples by monitoring and deterring
ecologically unsound industrial development projects and challenging the
unsustainable economic development model driving egregious fossil fuel
extraction operations. Amazon Watch investigates and disseminates
critical information on the status, key participants, and potential
ecological and social impacts of large-scale development schemes
proposed and underway in the frontier regions of the Amazon (such as new
roads, waterways, dams, oil drilling, etc.). We work to support
communities in the path of destructive development. This position may
be based in the Los Angeles or the San Francisco Bay Area.
