Re: Colombia update

Sorry to be flooding your inbox today... I just wanted to update you that

the vote on the McGovern/Skelton/Delauro amendment will be taking place

around 8:00 tonight EST, so you can continue making calls to your

representatives until then. Let's put in one last push to try to get this

passed!

To recap, the amendment would take out a portion of the $104 million in

Colombia military aid in the Iraq supplemental and give it to local police

forces and first responders.

Thank you so much for all of your hard work on this! We've been hearing

from congressional offices that they've been hearing LOTS on Colombia from

constituents-- let's keep it up for another 2 hours!

If you don't know who your rep is, see www.house.gov/writerep. You can be

connected with their office by calling the congressional switchboard at

202-224-3121. Ask for your member's office and ask to speak with the

foreign policy aide. You can voice your concerns over more miltary aid to

Colombia and ask that they support the McGovern/Skelton/DeLauro amendment to

cut out a portion of that aid from the Iraq bill.

Let me know if you get a sense of how your rep might vote--

estarmer@lawg.org. Thanks so much!
